The woodworking industry requires tough knives with high edge retention qualities, shock resistance, and dimensional stability. The most widely used steel grade for wood working tools is 1.2631 (A 8 Modified), followed by 1.2362, 1.2379, 1.3355, 1.3343 and K-340. In certain cases, tools are also made using tungsten carbide, carbon steel and 5160. Particularly for veneer slicing application, knives made using compound steel versions are popular.
CABLE AND WEEE RECYCLING
ATLAS enables effective and efficient solutions for Cable and WEEE Recycling with knives that help convert scrap cable into copper and/or aluminium granules. Knives for this purpose are manufactured in various tool steel grades, machined from a forged steel bar, heat treated and precisely ground basis the requirement.
We are skilled in the manufacture of knives for machines, such as Eldan, Untha, MeWa, MTB, Rapid, Condux and Addex among others. In addition to this, we also specialize in the creation of knives with special steel grades, made using nickel as an alloy element to ensure a longer lifetime between grinding even when dealing with highly abrasive materials.

Rubber and Tyre Recycling
Rubber requires the application of immense strength and sharpness to be cut down for recycling. ATLAS Engineering knives are particularly durable and are made with hardened steel to simplify the process of rubber and tyre recycling.
